The AEMC^® Data Logger Model L461 is the only logger in the L400 Series that measures voltage — and the only one in the series that handles DC. It's a 2-input, single-channel TRMS AC/DC voltage quality logger built specifically for distribution monitoring and solar PV applications, with a voltage range that covers virtually every situation you'll encounter; up to 1,200 VAC for AC circuits and up to 1,700 VDC for DC systems including solar strings, battery banks, and DC bus rails. The two inputs — COM and + — connect directly to your voltage leads and alligator clips, which are included in the box.

The standout capability for the L461 is its 1-second TRMS trend logging. NORMAL MODE

Continuous 1-Second Sampling

The insturment is never in standby. A True RMS voltage measurement is taken and stored every second for the duration of the session. Aggregated values are calculated from the complete 1s dataset — making Normal mode more accurate than Extended snapshot mode, which averages only four measurements per interval. This is the mode that enables voltage quality analysis — sags, swells, and short-duration fluctuations are captured in the 1s trend data available through DataView^®

Best for: voltage quality studies, distribution auditing, solar PV performance verification.

EXTENDED MODE

Snapshot Measurements — Up to 10 Weeks

The instrument sleeps between recordings to conserve battery. A 1-second TRMS snapshot is taken at each preset interval (e.g., every 1 minute, every 15 minutes). Only four snapshot measurements per aggregation period — Extended mode is less accurate than Normal mode due to the reduced sample count, but delivers dramatically longer battery life.

Best for: long-term voltage trending at remote sites — seasonal solar PV performance studies, utility feed monitoring over months.

Inverter Input & Output

Deploy the L461 at a solar inverter — switch to DC mode to log PV string input voltage, then switch to AC mode to log inverter output. Two separate recording sessions, one instruments, full picture of inverter performance across both sides of the conversion.

Remote Utility Feed Monitoring
